
Rajit Gilhotra
Dr Rajit Gilhotra is an Interventional Gastroenterologist at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, specializing in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Rajit graduated with Honours through James Cook University and subsequently completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology & Hepatology training through Cairns and Royal Brisbane Hospitals. This culminated in his obtaining fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He then completed two years of dedicated Interventional Endoscopy training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, as well as a third postgraduate fellowship in Therapeutic Endoscopy through The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada with a special interest in endoscopic innovations especially within the evolving field of minimally invasive alternatives to surgery.
Dr Gilhotra has expertise in endoscopic intervention including ERCP, therapeutic EUS, per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), resection of large polyps, pre-malignant gastrointestinal neoplasia and early gastrointestinal cancers as well as palliation for late-stage cancer. He is passionate about optimising patient outcomes using minimally invasive techniques particularly when it comes to the field of endo-hepatology and bariatric endoscopy. Apart from clinical medicine, Rajit has a passion for medical education and academics, he has published in peer-reviewed international journals and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
