James is a Staff Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queensland Liver Transplant Service. He undertook specialty training in Nottingham before a PhD in liver fibrosis and regeneration at the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently completed further subspeciality hepatology and transplant training in both Edinburgh and Brisbane. His clinical interests include general & transplant hepatology. Recent medical education roles include serving as Director of Clinical Training and on the RACP gastroenterology advanced training curriculum review group. His clinical and translational research activities include the assessment and modulation of liver injury and repair, NAFLD and the metabolic syndrome.
